Sticky Garlic-Honey Pork Belly

A savoury-sweet pork belly dish with a glossy garlic-honey glaze — quick, sticky, and irresistible served with steamed rice

Servings: 2–3
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • Pork Belly:
    • 400–450 g pork belly, cut into bite-size pieces
  • Sauce:
    • 2 tbsp soy sauce
    • 2 tbsp rice wine
    • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
    • 1 tsp dark vinegar
  • Aromatics & Finishing:
    • 10 g garlic, minced
    • 10 g unsalted butter
    • 1 tbsp honey
    • Chopped coriander/cilantro, to taste
    • A little cooking oil

Notes

  • The sauce reduces quickly toward the end — keep the pork moving to avoid burning
  • Serve immediately while the glaze is still glossy; it firms up as it cools
  • This dish pairs beautifully with plain steamed rice or jasmine rice

Instructions

  1. Mix the sauce. Combine the soy sauce, rice wine, oyster sauce, and dark vinegar in a small bowl.

  2. Brown the pork belly. Heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the pork belly in a single layer. Cook until browned, then turn the pieces and brown the other side, about 5–6 minutes total.

  3. Add the sauce. Pour the prepared sauce over the pork belly and bring it to a boil.

  4. Add the garlic. Stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.

  5. Add butter and honey. Add the butter and honey. Stir everything together and continue cooking over medium to medium-low heat.

  6. Reduce until sticky. Let the sauce bubble and reduce, stirring and tossing the pork frequently. It’s ready when the sauce becomes thick, glossy, and coats the pork belly.

  7. Finish. Transfer to a plate and top generously with chopped coriander/cilantro. Serve immediately.
